Scrolling Fear, Choosing Trust

As I scroll through social media, I keep seeing post after post about the weather—and with it, a lot of fear and panic. I get it. Uncertainty rattles us. But Scripture is clear: we’re called to trust God, not live in worry.

In fact, the Bible repeats some version of “do not fear” again and again—so often it’s been famously counted as one reminder for every day of the year. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Moments like this create unexpected opportunities. They slow us down. They press pause. And in that stillness, many hearts turn back toward God. Think about how many people this weekend opened conversations with Him they hadn’t had in a long time. Honest prayers. Desperate prayers. Hope-filled prayers. Heaven was busy—but not overwhelmed.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6

Now imagine what the world could look like if we prayed like that every day.
Not only when we’re scared.
Not only when life feels out of control.
But also when things are good.

God doesn’t ask for formal speeches or perfectly worded prayers. He wants relationship. Dialogue. Talk to Him like a best friend. Like a Father. He already knows what’s on your heart before you say a word—He just wants you to come to Him.

Fear may get our attention, but faith is what sustains us.
And trust? That’s a daily practice.

Father God,
In moments when fear feels louder than peace, we come to You—not just for ourselves, but for one another. We lift up those who don’t have a warm place to rest, those facing the cold with uncertainty, and those who feel forgotten or unseen right now. Be their shelter, their provider, and their comfort.

Calm anxious hearts. Strengthen weary bodies. Guide first responders, workers, and caregivers who are serving others in difficult conditions. Help us not only to pray, but to notice where we can help, give, and show compassion.

Remind us that You are near in every storm—seen and unseen.
Teach us to trust You daily, not only when we’re afraid, but in every season. And keep our hearts soft, grateful, and attentive to Your presence.

Amen.
